There is a second branch of Semi called semi-dev that you can enable in the installer. It features some extra debugging features like an ETGMod-style console and can come in very useful when working on mods.

To switch to semi-dev, simply open up the installer, click on the gear icon in the bottom right and swap out semi for semi-dev in the Component box.
